Peaks, Cliffs, Ice

The Ziller Valley, and especially the mountaineering village of Ginzling, have long been a destination for high alpine tours. The surrounding 3000 m plus mountains were climbed and explored by the most famous mountaineers of the 19th and 20th century. Mountaineers such as Heinrich Harrer, Hermann Buhl and Walter Bonatti loved the Zillertal Alps. Reinhold Messner and local mountaineer Peter Habeler trained here before they climbed Mount Everest without oxygen and Daniel Kopp also prepared for his Everest expedition in the Zillertal mountains.

If you long to stand at the summit of one of the highest peaks of the Ziller Valley, we recommend that you take a local mountain guide.  Here you can find a list of mountain guides who will guide you safely over cliffs and ice to the summit and back again.
